1. Objective
The objective of this event was to address the infestation of Swarming Caterpillars that had affected various locations in the Naharkatia constituency, particularly in Mahmora Barpather Gaon Panchayat. The aim was to provide immediate relief to the affected families by distributing pesticides to combat the infestation.
2. Background
During our recent activities, we observed a significant Swarming Caterpillar infestation affecting crops and livelihoods in the Mahmora Barpather Gaon Panchayat area. In response to this, the Director of AICHENGFA Social Forum, Diganta Danah, wrote a formal request to the District Agricultural Officer (DAO) of Dibrugarh, seeking assistance in the form of pesticides to control the infestation.
3. Collaboration
The DAO Dibrugarh, under the leadership of Mr. Anup Pegu (District Agricultural Officer), in collaboration with AICHENGFA Social Forum, took prompt action. A pesticide distribution camp was organized on 9th September at the Public Auditorium in Sishumara Barpathar Gaon, targeting the affected families of Mahmora Barpather Gaon Panchayat.
